ABC 3:30 PM This is the most satisfying rivalry in college
hoops. Here are the Blue Devils, ranked No. 2, and the Tar
Heels, at No. 4. Here are four starters who are Naismith Award
finalists: forward Shane Battier (the favorite) and guard Jason
Williams, both of Duke, and North Carolina center Brendan
Haywood and guard Joseph Forte. The Blue Devils won last year in
Chapel Hill in overtime, while the Heels won by two last month
in Durham.

Boston College at Boston University
FOX SPORTS NET NEW ENGLAND 7 PM (DIRECTV CH. 620; DISH NETWORK
CH. 435) What's all the Hub, Bub? Three weeks ago the Eagles
skated to a 5-3 win over the Terriers in the Beanpot championship
game, ending BU's six-year grip on the title of the celebrated
Boston tournament. BC enters tonight's regular-season finale
against its hated Commonwealth Avenue rival ranked No. 2
nationally. Through Sunday the Eagles' 5'7" senior forward, Brian
Gionta, was tied for the national lead in goals, with 27.

Raptors at Kings
TBS 9 PM Time for that popular NBA parlor game Six Degrees of
Kevin Stacom: The scrappy Stacom played with Cornbread Maxwell
(1977-78 Celtics), who played with Sleepy Floyd (1987-88
Rockets), who played with Lloyd Daniels (1993-94 Spurs), who
played with Vlade Divac (1994-95 Lakers), now an All-Star center
for Sacramento. Through Sunday, Divac's teammate forward Chris
Webber was averaging 27.4 points, good for sixth place in the
scoring race and just behind Toronto guard Vince Carter, who was
averaging 27.7.

Stanford at UCLA
CBS 4 PM Casey Kasem, inveterate host of American Top 40, would
love the Cardinal (25-1) and its leading scorer, Casey Jacobsen.
After spending four weeks at No. 1, Stanford moved down one spot
following a 79-73 loss on Feb. 3 to the Bruins--a defeat in which
Jacobsen (above, driving on UCLA's Billy Knight) went 4 for 18
from the field. Through Sunday, however, thanks in part to the
6'6" Jacobsen's long-distance dedications (45.1% from three-point
range), the Cardinal had (drumroll) returned to the top spot in
the national countdown. The Top 40 connection for No. 12 UCLA
(page 74) entering today's game at Pauley Pavilion: Kasem aired
for nine years on the Westwood One radio network.

THE ZAPPER

During roundtable discussions on HBO's On the Record, host Bob
Costas has used newspaper columns to illustrate the most pointed
criticisms of the NBA and NASCAR. While Costas isn't a combative
host--nor does he need to be--it would be enlightening to know
whether he agrees with the columns.... John Ruiz, who thought he
should have won a decision over Evander Holyfield last August,
gets another shot at the heavyweight champion on Saturday in Las
Vegas (SET, pay-per-view, 9 p.m., $44.95).
