--Ring of Truth - Without a W or a wife since joining the Tour,
Robert Damron weds in April and wins in May.

--Hot Mama - Of course Juli Inkster won on Mother's Day. She's
the only one in the top six with kids.

--Upsetting - The trouble with match play? For every Clarke vs.
Woods there's a Thompson vs. Fernandez.

--Lame Game - Everybody who's anybody in Europe plays in the B&H.
The winner, though, is a nobody.

--PGA Damron, who was married on April 6 in Orlando, birdied the
fourth hole of sudden-death at the Verizon Byron Nelson Classic
in Irving, Texas, to beat Scott Verplank and win his first Tour
event in 132 tries.... The last player to get his first victory
at the Nelson was Neal Lancaster, who won a six-way playoff in

--LPGA Inkster, who has two daughters, birdied three of the last
five holes to win her 26th LPGA title, the Electrolux USA
Championship at the Legends Club of Tennessee, in Franklin.
Inkster's 14-under 274 put her a shot ahead of Catriona Matthew.
Annika Sorenstam was two back in third.

--SENIOR Leonard Thompson, who lost on the 18th hole to Vicente
Fernandez in the final of last fall's Chrysler Senior Match
Play, beat Fernandez one up to win the Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Match Play at Boone Valley Golf Club in Augusta, Mo.... The
tournament was the tour's first match-play event since the '86
Seiko-Tucson Match Play.... With a 64 in the second of the two
qualifying rounds, Bob Charles, 65, became the youngest player
in tour history to better his age.

--ALSO Henrik Stenson, 25, of Sweden became the first rookie to
win a European tour event this year, by three over Angel Cabrera
and Paul McGinley in the Benson & Hedges International Open at
the Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, England.... European Ryder Cup
captain Sam Torrance pulled a rib muscle on the practice tee
after the second round and withdrew, despite being tied for
third.... Duke's win in the women's NCAA East Regional was the
Blue Devils' school-record ninth of the season.
