Track and Field Erin, a senior at Haddonfield Memorial High, won her third national high school crown in the mile, setting a meet record and a New Jersey state mark with her time of 4:42.96. Erin, who will attend North Carolina on an athletic scholarship, was also the runner-up in the girls' national javelin throw.

MYERS Daniel Carlson, CHARLOTTE Lacrosse Daniel, a senior attackman at Providence High, helped the Panthers win their fourth straight Charlotte High School Club Lacrosse title. The conference player of the year, he led the league with 6.26 points per game and finished the season with 78 goals and 41 assists in 19 games.
COLOR PHOTO: ROBERT JOHNSON Jesse Gutierrez, MCALLEN, TEXAS Baseball Gutierrez, a senior first baseman at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, was named Division II tournament most valuable player after going 4 for 4 with three home runs and four RBIs in the Rattlers' 11-3 win over Central Missouri State in the title game. It was St. Mary's first NCAA baseball crown.

Golf Kalenich, 68, the retired manager of a garage door business, won the Country Club of Coral Springs women's championship for the 20th time. Kalenich, who earned her first crown in 1978 and won 12 in a row from '78 to '89, shot a 26-over-par 239 to win by 12 strokes.

Bowling Kristy became the youngest female in the Young American Bowling Alliance to roll an 800 three-game series when she rolled an 816 just 67 days after her 13th birthday. Her series was also the best by an under-18 female in her state and the second-highest by a female of any age in Bay City.

She has led the women Panthers to the NAIA tournament every year since 1980.
