second in two weeks in Ireland.

PGA Hoch, who won in Greensboro, N.C., in April, took the Advil
Western Open by a shot over Davis Love III with a
tournament-record 21-under 267 at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club
outside Chicago....The last player 45 or older to have a
multiple-win season was Hale Irwin, who won the Buick Classic
and U.S. Open in 1990, when he was 45....The 15 golfers who
qualified for the British Open based on their play at the
Western include six who'll be making their British debuts: Brian
Gay, Matt Gogel, Joe Ogilvie, Carl Paulson, Rory Sabbatini and
Kevin Sutherland.

LPGA Pak won for the eighth time in the nine events in which she
has led or been tied for the lead entering the final round,
shooting a 15-under 269 at Highland Meadows Golf Club in
Sylvania, Ohio. She won by two strokes over Maria Hjorth, who
has finished second or third in six of her last seven
starts....In her last 16 rounds at Highland Meadows, Pak is 55
under par and has a 67.6 scoring average.

SENIOR Nelson, who led the Senior Open after the third round but
closed with a 75 to tie for seventh place, successfully defended
his title in the Farmers Charity Classic at Egypt Valley Country
Club in Ada, Mich., shooting a 14-under 202 to beat Jim Ahern by
a stroke.

ALSO After going six months without a top four finish, Clarke
won the European Open at Dublin's K Club--site of the 2005 Ryder
Cup--a week after having tied for second at the Irish Open in
Carrigtwohill....Ely Callaway, founder of Callaway Golf and the
company's CEO until he retired in May, died last Thursday in
Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. He was 82.
