Cheboiywo, who set course marks in all five races in which he competed this year, led the Eagles to the Mid-American Conference team crown for the second straight year.

Basketball Liz, a senior center at Glen Lake Community School, was voted Michigan's Miss Basketball after finishing the season with 24.1 points and 14.6 rebounds a game. Liz, who holds the girls' state record for career rebounds, with 1,534, and the Lakers' mark for points, with 2,086, will play for Michigan State.

Hockey Mandigo, 41, the women's coach at Middlebury College, has guided the Panthers to 131 consecutive games without a loss in Division III. The American Hockey Coaches Association college coach of the year in 2001, he has directed the Panthers to six Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference titles.

Soccer Julie, a senior goalie at Watkins Glen High, set the national girls' high school mark for career saves when she made 12 in a 2-1 win over Newfield High to run her total to 987. She finished her career with 1,250 and was named the Interscholastic Athletic Conference's most valuable defensive player.

Volleyball Nishimoto, a senior setter at Long Beach State, averaged13.59 assists a game while quarterbacking the 49ers to a 33-1record and a .359 hitting percentage, the best in the nation. An Academic All-America with a 3.92 average, she holds Long Beach State's single-match record for assists, with 95.
