Basketball Bess, 66, the men's coach at Three Rivers Community College, won his 900th game with a 76-65 victory over Southwest Tennessee. In 32 seasons with the Raiders he has a record of 906-221, including two titles and seven appearances in the final four at the national junior college tournament.

That mark, the best in the nation so far this year, was the third longest ever by a college woman. Scott won the SEC championship in the weight throw last year.

Wrestling Brad, a senior at Downingtown High, broke the Whippets' record for career wins by defeating Rob Melly, a junior at Lower Dauphin High, 10-1. Brad, who's profoundly deaf, is 138-18 with 79 pins in the 140-pound class, including 36-3 this season. He's ranked No. 1 in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

COLOR PHOTO: JEAN DIXON Brett Wolfe, RENO Bowling Wolfe, 25, a business-development manager for Coca-Cola, defeated 36-year-old professional Dennis Horan Jr. 269-172 in the final match to become the sixth amateur to win the American Bowling Congress Masters in its 52-year history. He beat a field of 456 pros and amateurs in the five-day event.

College, was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference player of the year after leading the Lord Jeffs to the league crown and their first Division III tournament title game. She's Amherst's career and single-season leader in goals and points.

COLOR PHOTO: JAY LAPRETE Jason Rogers, LOS ANGELES Fencing Rogers, 18, earned the bronze medal in sabre at the Junior A World Cup, defeating Vincent Anstett, 19, of France 15-11 to maintain his No. 3 spot in the world junior men's rankings in his weapon. He's the highest-ranked junior in the U.S. senior standings, in fourth place.
