Ziggy Goryn, WAYNE, N.J.
Volleyball
Ziggy, a senior at Wayne Hills High, set the state record for
kills in a career (1,164) and was named first-team all-state for
the second consecutive year. He also established school records
in blocks (313), matches played (112) and matches won (83).

Megan Racette, DES MOINES
Tennis
Megan, a senior at Urbandale High, became the first woman since
1961 to win four state 2A singles titles. She dropped only two
sets in her high school career while compiling a record of 76-0,
and this year she led the Jayhawks to their first state team
title.

Zach Herbert, CAPE ELIZABETH, MAINE
Lacrosse
Herbert, a senior attack, was named outstanding player of the
Division III tournament after leading Middlebury (Vt.) College to
its third consecutive championship. He scored four goals and had
three assists in a 14-9 win over Gettysburg (Pa.) College in the
final.

Kelly Willie, HOUSTON
Track and Field
Kelly, 19, swept the sprint events at the Adidas Outdoor
Championships in Raleigh, winning the 100-meter (10.39) and
200-meter (20.83) races. Earlier this year Kelly ran the
fifth-fastest indoor time ever (47.13) for a high schooler in the
400 meters.

Rob Oppenheim, ANDOVER, MASS.
Golf
Oppenheim, a senior at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., was
named Division II male golfer of the year. He had the season's
lowest stroke average (71.1) and birdied the final hole of the
Division II championships to give Rollins its first title in 32
years.

Jamie Wonderly, HELENA, OHIO
Softball
Jamie, a junior righthander at Gibsonburg High, threw three
no-hitters in state championship play as she led her team to its
second consecutive Division 4 title. Jamie went 26-0 this year,
and her 393 strikeouts were the third most in state history.

Shirley Hintz, COCOA, FLA.
Bowling
Hintz, 55, defeated Pam Buckner of Reno 215-198 in a one-game
roll-off to win the Women's International Bowling Congress's
Senior Queens Tournament in Milwaukee. Hintz averaged 197 for the
five-day, 86-player tournament.
