Faces In The Crowd

Gregg Norton, GREENSBURG, PA.
Tough Cop Competition
Norton, 32, won the "toughest cop alive" competition at the
International Law Enforcement Games in Ottawa. The contest
consisted of a 5K run, shot put, 100-meter dash, 100-meter swim,
rope climb, bench press, pull-ups and an obstacle course.

Louise Wilson, GOSHEN, KY.
Golf
Wilson, 72, won the 79th annual Women's Falls Cities golf
tournament at the New Albany Country Club 50 years after she
first won the event. Wilson has won the tournament nine times
and in five decades, skipping only the 1970s.

Danon Beatty, BAKERSFIELD, CALIF.
Tennis
Danon, 15, won the USTA Girls' 16 Super National hard-court
championships in San Diego as a ninth seed without losing a set
in the tournament. Earlier this year she and her father, Chuck,
won the national father-daughter hard-court championships.

Jeremy Scott, NORFOLK, NEB.
Track and Field
Scott, a senior at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., set a
meet record of 18'2 1/2" in the pole vault at the North America,
Central America and Caribbean Under-25 Championships in San
Antonio. Scott was the Division III indoor and outdoor champion
this year.

Shoshana Clark, POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.
Crew
Clark, a Williams College senior, led the Ephs to a national
title in the first-ever Division III women's championships, in
Indianapolis. She was named first-team All-America by the
Collegiate Rowing Association for the fourth straight year.

Lucille Borgen, BABSON PARK, FLA.
Waterskiing
Borgen, 89, won slalom and tricks titles in the 80-plus age group
at the Water Ski National Championships in Sante Fe, Texas.
Borgen, who started skiing in tournaments at age 46, has competed
in the event annually since 1975 and has won titles every year.

Clare Wooddall-Gainey, ROANOKE, VA.
Swimming
Clare, 15, broke her own meet records in two freestyle races at
the YMCA National Long Course Championships in College Park, Md.,
as she led Roanoke to an overall title. Her times were 26.49 in
the 50-meter and 57.86 in the 100-meter.
