Faces in the Crowd

Eileen Coparropa, PANAMA CITY, PANAMA
Swimming
Coparropa, a junior at Auburn University, won two gold medals, in
the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle, at the Central
American-Caribbean Games in El Salvador. She broke her own
Central American Games 100-meter record by .44 of a second.

Brian Yingling, STEELTON, PA.
Hockey
Yingling, 25, a senior forward at Lebanon Valley College, became
the Flying Dutchmen's first player to score 100 career goals. He
is the NCAA Division III leader in goals per game (1.50) and
points per game (2.50).

Molly Creamer, MENDHAM, N.J.
Basketball
Creamer, a senior guard at Bucknell, leads Division I teams in
scoring with 26.8 points per game. This season she has broken the
Bucknell and Patriot League career scoring records for both men
and women, with 2,291 points through Sunday.

Yasin Ali, LONDON
Golf
Ali, a sophomore at Oklahoma City University, led the Stars to a
national championship while shooting the lowest average (71.0) in
the NAIA. This September he will play for the Great Britain and
Ireland team at the Walker Cup.

Vicki Scheeler, NEW BERLIN, WIS.
Wrestling
Vicki, a senior at New Berlin West High, became the first female
wrestler in Wisconsin to win a Woodland Conference championship.
Competing in the 103-pound class exclusively against boys, Vicki,
one of two female wrestlers in the conference, has 65 victories.

Kristin Richards, OREM, UTAH
Volleyball
Kristin, a senior at Timpanogos High, led the Timberwolves to a
state title with 12 kills in the championship game, bringing her
senior year total to 248 kills, a record for her school. She was
named Gatorade High School Volleyball Player of the Year.

Phillip Simmonds, RESTON, VA.
Scott Oudsema, KALAMAZOO, MICH.
Tennis
Phillip (near right) and Scott, both 16, became the first
American team to win the boys' junior doubles championship at the
Australian Open.
