Faces in the Crowd

James Farrelly, BOULDER CITY, NEV.
Wrestling

James, a senior at Boulder City High, won the Nevada 3A state
wrestling title in the heavyweight division and finished the
season 40-0. As a tackle in football, he was named South
Nevada's 3A Lineman of the Year.

Annie Preble, LAGUNA BEACH, CALIF.
Water Polo

Annie, a senior center at Laguna Beach High, was the top scorer
in Orange County, with 166 goals, breaking the school record by
59 goals. She led the Breakers to the semifinals of the Division
II California Interscholastic Federation championships.

Kat Sungy, ARVADA, COLO.
Basketball

Sungy, a senior forward at Jacksonville University, is the
Dolphins' all-time leading scorer and rebounder, with 1,115 career
points and 943 rebounds. She averages 13 points per game and is
second in the Atlantic Sun Conference with 10.3 rebounds per
game.

Mark Ritchhart, ORLANDO
Waterskiing

Ritchhart, 41, a softball coach and physical education teacher at
Pine Castle Christian Academy, broke a 13-year-old slalom record
in the Open Men's Division at the Polar Bear Classic. He also won
the Kneeboard National Championships, his 12th national title.

Mitchell Friedemann, HARTFORD, WIS.
Swimming

Mitchell, 10, broke the national age-group record for boys 10 and
under in the 50-yard backstroke at the Schroeder Invitational, in
Brown Deer, Wis. He also set state age-group records in the
50-yard, 100-yard, 50-meter and 100-meter backstroke.

Harrison Newman, NEW YORK CITY
Track and Field

Harrison, a junior at Stuyvesant High, won gold medals in the
triple and high jumps at the Manhattan Borough Championships. He
was named the Metropolitan Athletic Congress champion for his age
group.

Kim and Stephanie Braxton, UPPER MARLBORO, MD.
Volleyball

Kim (near right) and Stephanie, twins and senior cocaptains at
Frederick Douglass High, led the Bulldogs to their first county
3A-2A-1A title.
