The Week In Television
SUNDAY 6/29 > SPEED 7:30 AM > Formula One European Grand Prix at
Nurburgring
On his native soil, Germany's Michael Schumacher goes for his
fifth win in nine races.
SUNDAY 6/29 > NBC 3 PM > U.S. Senior Open
Fresh off his first-round 65 two weeks ago against PGA Tour young
bloods, 53-year-old Tom Watson takes on people his own age.
SUNDAY 6/29 > UNIVISION 3 PM > FIFA Confederations Cup Final
So what if it's in Spanish, it's still world-class futbol. With
France playing Turkey in one semifinal and Cameroon playing
Colombia in the other, an exciting final is sure to ensue. Sure,
Pablo Ramirez's goal call ("GOL! GOL!, GOL! Goooooooooooool!")
sounds a bit derivative of Telemundo's Andres Cantor's, but it's
almost as awesome.
WEDNESDAY 7/2 > ESPN CLASSIC 5 PM > '79 World Series: Pirates at
Orioles, Game 7
Crank the Sister Sledge and relive the heroics of Pops (Willie
Stargell) and the Bucs' family. The late slugger (then an
avuncular 38-year-old) hit three homers in the Series: but did he
go deep on Orioles crafty starter Scott McGregor in this one?
THURSDAY 7/3 > NBC NOON > Wimbledon: Women's Semifinal
Belgium versus the Williams sisters? If seeds hold, No. 1 Serena
Williams will play No. 3 Justine Henin-Hardenne and No. 2 Kim
Clijsters will face No. 4 Venus Williams.
DON'T MISS
SAT. 6/28 > FOX 1 PM AND 4 PM
Mets at Yankees and A's at Giants
A doubleheader that will transport you. After a Subway Series
showdown from Yankee Stadium comes a BART battle between playoff
contenders as the 2003 interleague schedule winds down this
weekend.
