The Week In Television

JULY 4-10

FRIDAY 7/4 > ESPN2 4 PM > Red Sox at Yankees
Happy Birthday, Boss. George Steinbrenner turns 73 today, no
doubt well aware that the Red Sox haven't won a world
championship in his lifetime.

FRIDAY 7/4 > HBO 11:30 PM > On the Record with Bob Costas
Over? Did you say over? Nothing is over until Costas decides it
is! The host leads a panel discussion on the 25th anniversary of
Animal House with actors Tim Matheson (Otter) and Peter Riegert
(Boon). Pete Sampras is also in the house.

SATURDAY 7/5 > NBC 9 AM > Wimbledon: Women's Final
The last year someone named Williams didn't win the All England
women's title was 1999. The men's final airs at 9 a.m. on Sunday
on NBC.

SUNDAY 7/6 > NBC 3 PM > U.S. Women's Open, Final Round
The LPGA's version of LeBron versus Michael: The 13-year-old
wunderkind, Michelle Wie, and the Jordanesque Annika Sorenstam
battle at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore.

SUNDAY 7/6 > ABC 3 PM > 100th Western Open, Final Round
This ain't no Second City field. Seven of the world's top 10
golfers--including U.S. Open champ Jim Furyk, Masters champ Mike
Weir, Vijay Singh and Tiger Woods--have committed to the
venerable event at Cog Hill, outside Chicago.

DON'T MISS

MONDAY 7/7 > OLN 7:30 PM > Running of the Bulls
This is the first of nine days of coverage from the
four-century-old Fiesta de San Fermin in Pamplona,
Spain--highlighted each morning by those death-defying sprints
down narrow cobbled streets just ahead of a herd of angry toros.
