In The Crease
League observers are wondering if Flames wing Jarome Iginla will
find his scoring touch again. He had a league-high 52 goals in
2001-02, dropped to 35 last season and through Sunday had only
four goals in 16 games this season. Even more worrisome for
Calgary is that Iginla has no power-play goals and few quality
scoring chances with the man advantage.... Don't be surprised to
see lots of broken synthetic sticks in the Oilers-Canadiens
outdoor game in usually frigid Edmonton on Saturday night. Those
man-made sticks are notoriously brittle when subjected to the
cold.... The underachieving Rangers, who were 6-6-3-2 at week's
end, are already in a big hole. After a relatively easy early
schedule (11 of New York's first 15 games were at home, and eight
games were against teams that missed the playoffs last season),
nine of the next 11 were on the road.
