Faces in the Crowd

Jennifer Barringer, OVIEDO, FLA.
Cross-country
Jennifer, a junior at Oviedo High, became the first Florida high
school girl to break the 17-minute barrier for five kilometers
with a time of 16:55 in the Class 4A state cross-country
championships. The win gave her a second straight state title.

Stefan Gonet, RENFREWSHIRE, SCOTLAND
Soccer
Gonet, a sophomore goalkeeper at Binghamton, helped the Bearcats
win their first American East Conference title. He leads NCAA
Division 1 with 16 shutouts and a 0.35 goals-against average and
was named conference rookie and goalkeeper of the year.

Kim Glass, LANCASTER, PA.
Volleyball
Glass, a sophomore outside hitter at Arizona, had 15 matches with
20 or more kills, breaking her own single-season record. She had
a 28-kill match against Oregon State on Nov. 14 and has reached
1,000 kills faster than any other player in Wildcat history.

Jesse Raynor, WEEDSPORT, N.Y.
Football
Raynor, a senior tailback at Alfred University, finished his
career with 3,865 rushing yards, a school record. He was also a
starting cornerback, the placekicker and the Saxons' top kick
returner, and he was named Empire 8 Conference player of the year.

Blair Lamb, FLAT ROCK, N.C.
Golf
Blair, a junior at East Henderson High, won her second state
title when she shot a tournament-best 136 to win the Class
1-A/2-A/3-A championship at Gates Four Golf and Country Club in
Fayetteville. She led the Eagles to their first state team title.

Adam Benford, RAVENSWOOD, W.VA.
Cross-country
Adam, a senior at Ravenswood High, won the Class AA-A state
championship with a personal-best time of 16:36 for five
kilometers. He also led the Red Devils to a state-record fourth
consecutive team title.

Alyssa Carlow, MCLEAN, VA.
Soccer
Carlow, a senior striker at Dickinson College, was named the 2003
Centennial Conference Women's Soccer player of the year. She led
the conference in scoring for the third straight season and is
its alltime leader in goals and points.
