Alon Lubezky, KFAR SHMARYAHU, ISRAEL
Soccer

Lubezky, a junior forward at Hartford, became the Hawks' alltime
leading scorer with 52 career goals. He was the America East
Conference's leading scorer for the third straight year and was
named its offensive player of the year.

Emily Silver, BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASH.
Swimming

Emily, a senior freestyler at Bainbridge Island High, became the
first person in state history to win four straight high school
championships in two individual events. She won the 50-and
100-yard freestyle races in state-record time at the Class 3A/2A
girls' meet.

Xavier Lee, ORMOND BEACH, FLA.
Football

Xavier, a senior quarterback at Seabreeze High, was named Class
3A player of the year after throwing for 3,133 yards and 37
touchdowns. He holds virtually every state career passing record,
including yardage (9,083) and touchdown passes (98).

Meghan Welcome, HAVERHILL, MASS.
Soccer

Welcome, a junior forward at Franklin Pierce College, scored the
winning goal in a victory over Adelphi to take the Ravens to
their 12th straight Final Four appearance. She was named
Northeast-10 conference player of the year for the second
straight year.

Garrett Heath, WINONA, MINN.
Cross-country

Garrett, a senior at Winona Senior High, won his second
individual 3.1-mile Class AA state cross-country championship,
with a time of 15:11. He has won five individual state
championships this year, two in track and three in Nordic skiing.

Aline Pereira, SaO PAULO
Volleyball

Pereira, a senior outside hitter at George Mason, had 72 kills in
two tournament victories to lead the Patriots to their second
straight Colonial Athletic Association championship. She earned
CAA player of the year honors for the third consecutive season.

Roger Thomsen, LINCOLN, NEB.
Golf

Thomsen, 56, a state revenue agent who plays golf with his left
arm because his right arm was disabled after a childhood bout of
encephalitis, shot two holes in one in the same round while
playing in a tournament at the North Forty Golf Complex in
Lincoln.
