Jim Palmer, Baseball player
The Hall of Fame righthander won three Cy Young awards and 268
games and had a career ERA of 2.86. He also had a 4-2 record for
the Baltimore Orioles in six World Series between 1966 and '83.
At Scottsdale High, Palmer was all-state in football, basketball
and baseball.

Charlie Hickcox, Swimmer
The Phoenix native won three gold medals and a silver at the 1968
Olympic Games in Mexico City. He also won eight NCAA
championships while at Indiana. During one 16-month stretch in
'67 and '68 he set eight world records.

Curley Culp, Football player
The 6'1", 265-pound defensive tackle from Yuma played in six Pro
Bowls from 1969 to '78, first with the Kansas City Chiefs and
then with the Houston Oilers. At Arizona State he was a football
All-America and the NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion.

Michele Mitchell-Rocha, Diver
The Scottsdale native and four-time All-America at Arizona won
nine national titles and two Olympic silver medals, in '84 and
'88. She holds the U.S. record for the highest score (479.40
points) on the platform and has been Arizona's diving coach for
the past six seasons.

Curt Schilling, Baseball player
The righthander won 22 regular-season games and went 4-0 in the
postseason during the Diamondbacks' 2001 world championship run.
Though born in Anchorage, he was raised in Phoenix and pitched
Yavapai Junior College in Prescott to the 1985 Juco World Series.

Bob Baffert, Horse trainer
Since 1991, the Nogales native's horses have won eight Triple
Crown races and earned more than $80 million in purses. A winner
of three Eclipse Awards as trainer of the year, Baffert graduated
from Arizona with a degree in racetrack management.
