Faces in the Crowd

Randy Monahan, ELIZABETHTOWN, PA.
Gymnastics

Monahan, a junior at Ohio State, placed first in the all-round
competition and led the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes to a victory over
Illinois. In January he scored an NCAA-high 56.500 points in the
all-around and was named national gymnast of the week.

Lindsey Jacobellis, BONDVILLE, VT.
Snowboarding

Jacobellis, 18, won the Winter X Games snowboard cross
championship for the second straight year and took the SBX gold
medal at the U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix. Earlier this season she
had her first World Cup victory, in Bad Gastein, Austria.

Decota Cotten, LEBANON, MAINE
Wrestling

Decota, a senior at Noble High, won his second Class A 152-pound
state championship. He set the Maine high school record for
career victories with his 163nd win last month and is 98-0 over
the past two seasons.

Kalana Greene, ST. STEPHEN, S.C.
Basketball

Kalana, a junior center at Timberland High, ranks first among
South Carolina girls in rebounds (18.0), steals (8.7) and assists
(8.0) per game and is third in scoring, averaging 26.3 points.
She has helped lead the Lady Wolves to a 19-2 record.

Brandon Barrett, MARTINSBURG, W.VA.
Football

Brandon, a senior wide receiver at Martinsburg High, set four
state records, including 74 career receiving touchdowns (second
best in the nation), and was named to the Parade All-America
team. He has 4,717 receiving yards and is a two-time Kennedy
Award winner.

Betty Cox, DANVILLE, KY.
Equestrian

Betty, a junior at St. Andrew's School in Middletown, Del., won
the three major events of saddle seat competition and the World's
Grand Champion Senior Rider. She was named 2003 Junior Equestrian
of the Year by the United States Equestrian Federation.

Tyler Payne, WEST FARGO, N.DAK.
Bowling

Tyler, a junior at West Fargo High, rolled back-to-back 300 games
and had 33 strikes in 36 frames, including 26 consecutive
strikes, in a three-game league series at West Acres Bowl in
Fargo. His 858 series set a North Dakota junior record.
