Faces in the Crowd

Kate Richardson, COQUITLAM, B.C.
Gymnastics

Richardson, a sophomore at UCLA, won the all-around after scoring
two 10s (beam and floor exercise) to lead the Bruins to a
three-school-meet win and earn her second Pac-10 gymnast of the
week honor this season. She leads Division I in the all-around.

John Shuster, CHISHOLM, MINN.
Curling

Shuster, a junior at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, led the
Minnesota curling team to a 7-5 victory in the championship match
of the 2004 USA Curling Junior Nationals in Centerville, Wis. He
is also on the men's national championship team.

Stephanie White, BEDFORD, N.H.
Cycling

Stephanie, a freshman at Manchester West High, beat defending
champion Danielle Haluman by 10 seconds to win the junior (10-14
age division) women's National Cyclocross Bicycling Championships
in Portland, Ore.

Artavius Fisher, KINGSTON, N.Y.
Basketball

Artavius, a senior guard at Kingston High, scored 61 points to
set his school's single-game scoring record in an 88-76 win over
Albany High. He ranks second in the state for career
three-pointers (305) and second in Section IX for career points
(1,922).

Christine Capuano, STONEHAM, MASS.
Hockey

Capuano, a freshman goalie at Dartmouth, made 32 saves to lead
the top-ranked Big Green to a 3-2 victory over Minnesota--her
seventh straight win and her fourth over a Top 10 team. She has
been an East Coast Athletic Conference rookie and goalie of the
week.

Alex Tsirtsis, GRIFFITH, IND.
Wrestling

Alex, a senior at Griffith High, broke the national high school
record for consecutive victories with his 221st, at the Hobart
Invitational on Jan. 24. The three-time state champion is ranked
No. 2 in the nation at 140 pounds by Amateur Wrestling News.

Diana Soundingsides, ETHETE, WYO.
Basketball

Diana, a sophomore guard at Wyoming Indian High, made 14 of 16
three-pointers and was 18 of 21 from the field overall to score
55 points in a 111-44 victory over Big Piney. She set a school
record (male or female) for three-pointers and points in a game.
