The Seed Report
As the season enters the final stretch, SI's selection committee
is back to examine which teams are in the best position to gain
the top seeds. If the NCAA tournament were starting this week,
here's how our panel would bracket the top four seeds in each
region. (All records are through Sunday.)
As it has done for the past two years, the NCAA selection
committee will try to keep the higher-seeded teams close to home
regardless of region for the first two rounds. But one change
this year will be the seeding of the Final Four. Instead of
predetermining that, for example, the East winner will play the
Midwest winner, as in years past, the NCAA will match up regional
champions according to the ranking of the four No. 1 seeds, which
will be announced by the committee on Selection Sunday. So the
No. 1 region will play the No. 4 region and No. 2 will face No. 3.
