
Best of the 90s
In addition to being the preeminent athlete of his era, Michael
Jordan just seemed to never take a bad picture--unless you were a
fan of the Jazz or any of the other teams he flushed in the NBA
Finals. Jordan's play on the court made him a star, but it's
clear that his "print work"--portraits and action shots--helped
make him a cultural icon. In that way, as in so many others,
Jordan was a leader, moving from jock to celebrity to brand name.
In the annals of agony and ecstasy in sports it is difficult to
do better than the Yankees' World Series win or Mark McGwire's
going deep to tie Roger Maris with 61 ... or worse than the
Shark's plumbing the depths at Augusta.
