Managers In Trouble

The Blue Jays' 8-17 start through Sunday, including 1-8 at home,
could lead to Carlos Tosca's being the first manager fired this
season. Meanwhile, Bob Melvin, who won 93 games last year as the
Mariners' rookie skipper, has little room for error under new
general manager Bill Bavasi after Seattle's 9-16 start. And the
Diamondbacks' Bob Brenly, whose club won the World Series in 2001
but was last (10-14) in the NL West at week's end, recently got
the dreaded vote of confidence from managing general partner
Jerry Colangelo.
