Ralph Kiner, Baseball player
For seven straight years the Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder led
the National League (or shared the lead) in home runs. The Santa
Rita native and Hall of Famer twice hit 50-plus homers. He is in
his 43rd year as a New York Mets broadcaster.

Al Unser Sr., Auto racer
The Albuquerque native drove to victory in the Indy 500 in 1970,
'71, '78 and '87. His record-tying fourth win came just days
before he turned 48 and made him the event's oldest winner. His
brother Bobby won three Indys, and son Al Jr. won two.

Kathy Whitworth, Golfer
Her 88 pro victories between 1962 and '85 are the most by any
golfer, male or female. The two-time state amateur champ from Jal
was the first female player to pocket $1 million in earnings and
was a seven-time LPGA player of the year.

Nancy Lopez, Golfer
The LPGA Hall of Famer from Roswell won the 1969 state women's
amateur title at age 12. As a tour newcomer in 1978, she got the
first nine of her 48 career victories and was rookie of the year,
player of the year and the Vare Trophy winner.

Brian Urlacher, Football player
The former University of New Mexico star from Lovington has made
the Pro Bowl in each of his four years with the Chicago Bears. In
2002 the middle linebacker broke the team record for tackles in a
season, set by Dick Butkus in 1972.

Bob Foster, Boxer
With his overpowering left hook, the Albuquerque native dominated
the light heavyweight ranks in the late 1960s and early '70s. He
won his first title in 1968 by handing Dick Tiger his first
knockout loss. Foster successfully defended his belt a
division-record 14 times.
