Anjelica Selden, VACAVILLE, CALIF.
Softball
Anjelica, a senior righthander at Vanden High, pitched 10
consecutive no-hitters, the longest such streak in the nation
this year. She also had seven perfect games and is batting .439.
She has an 85-7 career record and has allowed four earned runs in
four years.
Bill Haas, GREER, S.C.
Golf
Haas, a senior at Wake Forest and the two-time Atlantic Coast
Conference player of the year, won the Ben Hogan Award, presented
to the nation's top college golfer. He is the son of eight-time
PGA Tour winner Jay Haas.
Ashley Harmeling, NORTH READING, MASS.
Lacrosse
Harmeling, a junior attacker at Amherst and the New England Small
College Athletic Conference's leader in goals, assists and
points, was named NESCAC player of the year. This was her first
season of college lacrosse. She was also player of the year in
soccer.
Kyle Jenkins, KENT, WASH.
Track and Field
Kyle, a senior triple jumper at Thomas Jefferson High, broke a
27-year-old state record with a leap of 50'2" at the Pasco
Invitational. As a football player he led the South Puget Sound
League in receptions with 57.
Emilie Rymer, MEDINA, OHIO
Gymnastics
Emilie, a sophomore at Medina High, won the overall title and
gold medals in the vault, uneven parallel bars and floor exercise
at the girls' state tournament. She was named gymnast of the year
by the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Akron Beacon Journal.
Pete Steinberg, PHILADELPHIA
Rugby
Steinberg, 33, a leadership development consultant, coached
Temple to the Division II women's collegiate title. Two hours
later he coached the Penn State women's team to the Division I
title, its third national championship.
Raasin McIntosh, HOUSTON
Track and Field
McIntosh, a senior at Texas, became the first Longhorn to win
three consecutive Big 12 outdoor 400-meter-hurdles titles. She
also finished third in the 100-meter hurdles, helping the team
win the women's outdoor conference title.
