The Final Four at the Pit in 1983 was one of the most memorable
sports events ever. North Carolina State upset Houston in the
championship game 54-52 on a dunk by Lorenzo Charles with one
second left. Afterward coach Jim Valvano said, "Albuquerque is
the greatest city the Lord ever made. My wife is going to be
pregnant--she doesn't know this yet--and I'm going to name the
kid Al B. Querque."
