My Spot with Rob Lesser, Veteran Kayaker

MARSH CREEK The die-hard kayakers come out in the early season,
which begins for us in May, and put in on the snow banks at Marsh
Creek. This is the time when the river flows highest and you
experience the classic ice-cold Idaho water.

MARBLE CREEK RAPID About a third of the way down, you'll run into
this juicy surfing wave with a returnable eddy that you can
flat-spin your short boat on. The Middle Fork is becoming a
favorite destination for play boaters because there are tons of
surfing waves, spin spots and little holes.

SUNFLOWER FLAT HOT SPRINGS This is the high point of the trip. On
an early-season run the water temperature is in the upper 30s,
then you step into this 106° hot spring.
