Bottoms Up
The Arnold Palmer, a libation that's half lemonade and half iced
tea, has been championed by the man himself for three decades.
The drink, appropriately, is a little like the King: bold,
classic, caffeinated and appealing to a wide swath of people.
That got us to wondering: If other golfers had drinks named after
them, what would the ingredients be?
DRINK
The Jack Nicklaus
INGREDIENTS
Half lemonade, half iced tea and a shot of ginger ale.
WHY
Jack always has to do Arnie one better.
[DRINK]
The Tiger Woods
[INGREDIENTS]
Tap water, 30-year-old Bowmore single malt and a hint of anise.
[WHY]
It's inaccessible to most people and slightly bitter.
[DRINK]
The Vijay Singh
[INGREDIENTS]
Bottom-shelf bourbon and Diet Coke.
[WHY]
It's got a flavor you have to work hard to like and leaves an
unrelenting aftertaste.
[DRINK]
The Phil Mickelson
[INGREDIENTS]
Tonic water and three Alka-Seltzers with a vodka chaser.
[WHY]
It's a lot of foam and fizz followed by one good pop.
[DRINK]
The Ernie Els
[INGREDIENTS]
A pint of Guinness (at room temperature).
[WHY]
It's smooth and delicious but never seems to be trying too hard.
[DRINK]
The DL3
[INGREDIENTS]
A mint julep with a splash of gin on top.
[WHY]
It has a genteel Southern charm, yet makes you want to pick a
fight with any yahoo in the crowd.
[DRINK]
The Retief Goosen
[INGREDIENTS]
A glass of water.
[WHY]
It's kind of dull but also refreshing.
[DRINK]
The Paul Casey
[INGREDIENTS]
A shot of Bushmills Irish Whiskey.
[WHY]
It's small, from the U.K. and hits hard.
[DRINK]
The Michelle Wie
[INGREDIENTS]
A virgin margarita.
[WHY]
It's so unbelievably good, you can't believe there's no alcohol.
[DRINK]
The Ian Poulter
[INGREDIENTS]
A pomegranate martini with a lime-green swizzle stick in a pink
glass.
[WHY]
It's all about the latest fad.
