Kenneth Hall, BATON ROUGE
Track and Field
Kenneth, a senior at Tara High, jumped 54'101/4" to set a national high school record and win the gold medal in the young men's (under 20) triple jump at the National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships. He was named male athlete of the meet.
Aubrey Walton, SYCAMORE, OHIO
Softball
Walton, a righthanded pitcher and June graduate of Mohawk High, ended her high school career with a 64--6 record and a state-record 43 straight wins. She had 435 strikeouts and an 0.43 ERA and led the Warriors to their first and only state softball championship in 2003.
Homer Bailey, LA GRANGE, TEXAS
Baseball
Bailey, a June graduate of La Grange High, led the Leopards to a Texas Class 3A title for the second time and was named the championship game MVP. The righthander went 15--0 this season, struck out 201 and had an 0.68 ERA. He signed with the Cincinnati Reds.
Danah Ford, INDIANAPOLIS
Golf
Ford, a recent graduate of Indiana, won her second Indiana Women's State Amateur championship and also took the state Women's Open title, becoming the first woman to win both events in the same year. She is the 2004 Big Ten champion.
Padraic McCole, ROSEMONT, PA.
Swimming
Padraic, a junior at Harriton High, won gold medals in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter individual medley and 50-meter and 100-meter butterfly at the 2004 U.S. Transplant Games in Minneapolis. He was named the meet's outstanding male athlete.
Camille Jania, SCARBOROUGH, MAINE
Tennis
Camille, a freshman at Scarborough High, won the women's singles title at the Betty Blakeman Memorial Tournament. A week earlier she had won the Maine Tennis Association's women's title without losing a game. She has won four tournaments in three months.
Mike Geiger, NAPERVILLE, ILL.
Powerlifting
Geiger, 38, a police officer, won the squat, bench press and deadlift in his division (111.0 kg. and over, open) at the 2004 Can-Am Police-Fire Games in London, Ont. He was the men's best overall lifter and is undefeated in 12 years of police and firefighter events.
