Video Matchup
Who'll win on Monday night? In a preview of the game, Cowboys safety Roy Williams and Redskins running back Clinton Portis faced off in EA Sports Madden 2005 on Xbox Live
BOTH OFFENSES struggled early, and when the video Portis was stopped after a two-yard gain, the flesh-and-blood version muttered, "This ain't Portis. I haven't had a two-yard gain since I came into the league." Williams, playing from a hotel room in Dallas, held Portis to several short runs in the first quarter, at one point telling the ex-Bronco, "You are not in Denver anymore." A 79-yard interception return gave Washington a 7--0 lead and, down 10--0 at halftime, Williams vowed, "I am going at him." But in the second half Portis, playing on a 42-inch screen in his living room, ran back a fumble 31 yards to break open the game. When video Portis scored on a three-yard run to make it 24--0, flesh-and-blood Portis erupted in rhyme. "Portis to the left, Portis to the right, Portis in the end zone for the rest of the night!" Williams, deflated, responded in expletives. The game wound down, talk turned to Williams's courtside appearance at last February's NBA All-Star Game, and Dallas got a safety to avert a shutout.
