OKLAHOMA (5--0)
If he played basketball, Adrian Peterson (who had 225 yards in a 12--0 win over Texas) would be toiling for some hapless lottery team. Instead, the most gifted freshman running back since Herschel Walker is playing in the same backfield as a Heisman-winning QB.
Next game: Saturday at Kansas State
USC (5--0)
The receiving corps is decimated, and the secondary is struggling. But if USC was able to survive Cal QB Aaron Rodgers, it should be able to survive just about anyone.
Next game: Saturday vs. Arizona State
AUBURN (6--0)
The Tigers may be the SEC's last remaining national championship hope. It won't be easy, as Auburn finishes the season with Georgia, Alabama (in Tuscaloosa) and the SEC title game.
Next game: Saturday vs. Arkansas
PURDUE (5--0)
The Boilermakers have made a lot of history lately. They're 5--0 for the first time since 1945; last Saturday they won at Penn State for the first time, and Taylor Stubblefield broke the Big Ten career record with 271 catches.
Next game: Saturday vs. Wisconsin
MIAMI (4--0)
The Hurricanes' D, led by junior cornerback Antrel Rolle (right), has dominated, allowing just 6.5 points and 216 yards per game. But it faces a significant challenge against a highly balanced Louisville offense that's generating more than 500 yards per game.
Next game: Thursday vs. Louisville
