Three and Out
1. Two years' worth of good fortune--not to mention the loss of 13 starters to the NFL draft--is finally catching up to Ohio State. Following an ugly 33--7 loss at Iowa, the Buckeyes are 0--3 in the Big Ten for the first time since 1988.
2. Miami ought to think about running the hurry-up offense for 60 minutes. Senior quarterback Brock Berlin morphs from mediocre to magnificent once he goes into the shotgun, as he did in rallying the Hurricanes from a 31--14 deficit against Louisville.
3. Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen's reputation as an offensive mastermind is taking a serious hit. The Terps, unable to find a consistent quarterback, were held to a combined 172 total yards in losses to Georgia Tech and N.C. State. --Stewart Mandel
