Drummond's Instant Offense

Eddie Drummond, a backup receiver for the Lions, returned two punts for touchdowns in the fourth quarter of Detroit's 23-17 overtime loss at Jacksonville. A rookie free-agent pickup out of Penn State in 2002, Drummond never got the chance to display his return skills for the Nittany Lions. "They never asked," said Drummond, who leads the league in punt returns with a 15.2-yard average. He has also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.... After 10 years out of coaching, Jerry Glanville wants to get back in. "Every day I get up, I wish I was still coaching," he says,"so I'm going to give it a try." He'd love a shot at a mid-major college job.... Is there any doubt that the Patriots were smart to replace running back Antowain Smith with Corey Dillon? After rushing for 1,157 yards during New England's Super Bowl season in 2001, Smith averaged only 49.4 yards a game last year. Dillon is averaging 112.5 yards in his eight games this season--all New England victories.... In their 17-14 win over the Giants on Sunday, the Cardinals racked up six sacks. With 24 sacks in nine games, Arizona has already surpassed its total for each of the last three seasons. The Cardinals had 19 sacks in 2001 and 21 in each of the last two seasons. Leading the way is defensive end Bertrand Berry, an eight-year veteran who played the last three seasons for the Broncos. On Sunday, Berry had four sacks, giving him an NFC-high nine for the year.
