PERU, N.Y. > Cross-country

McDougal, a freshman at Liberty University, ran an 8K course in 23:49, a Big South Conference record, and became the first freshman to win the BSC individual title. He won all seven races he entered this season and was named Big South rookie and runner of the year.

Bethany Kowalczyk
WATERFORD, PA. > Soccer

Kowalczyk, a freshman forward at Houghton College, scored 29 goals this season and led the Highlanders to a 19-0 record and the NAIA Region IX title. She had three four-goal games and was an American Mideast Conference offensive player of the week.

Kirk Elsworth
GOODRICH, MICH. > Football

Kirk, a senior running back at Goodrich High, rushed for 2,867 yards and scored a state-record 52 touchdowns to lead the 10-2 Martians to the Division 5 quarterfinals. He is also the kicker, punter and free safety, and has scored 379 points this season, another Michigan record.

Kelly Albin
FORT BRAGG, CALIF. > Lacrosse

Albin, a graduate student at UC Davis, was named NCAA Woman of the Year. The midfielder had 43 career goals, a school-record 29 assists last season and holds career records for assists (71) and ground balls (147). She graduated magna cum laude with a degree in food science last March.

Aleksandar Stankovic
BELGRADE, SERBIA > Water Polo

Stankovic, a sophomore goalkeeper at St. Francis College had 25 saves on 31 shots, helping the Terriers win the Collegiate Water Polo Association Northern Division title. He had a 2.15 goals-against average this season, scored five goals with 17 assists and led the team to a 7-0 division record.

SKOWHEGAN, MAINE > Field Hockey

Katy, a senior forward at Skowhegan High, scored the winning goal with 2:39 remaining in a 3-2 victory over Bonny Eagle, giving the Indians their fourth straight Class A state championship. She led the team with a school-record 32 goals and had 14 assists for the season.
