Who's Hot/Who's Not
WHO'S Hot
Eagles
McNabb is on his way to best-ever season for a Philly quarterback, TO leads the NFC in touchdown (13) and Housewife (1) receptions, and with the Broad Street Bullies locked out, the City of Brotherly Love is behaving splendidly for its 9-1 footballers. The faithful even have a website, "Fans helping Fans," through which needy Eagles boosters can borrow money.
Drews
Bledsoe (right) threw three TDs to keep Bills' slim playoff hopes alive. Brees (226 passing yards) won in Oakland. Henson went 6 for 6 in Cowboys debut, and Barrymore's film Fever Pitch is getting timely rewrite so it can surf wave of Bosox Series win.
Panthers
Finally, defending NFC champs are getting into the spirit of the season: back-to-back wins while several team members--including WR Keary Colbert and DE Mike Rucker--have spent off days building homes for needy Carolinians.
Lamont Jordan
How does a fourth-year running back with 1,051 career yards get noticed on a team with Curtis Martin--the sixth-leading rusher of all time? By running for 61 fourth-quarter yards in a Jets comeback three weeks after gaining 115 on MNF. Jordan, a free-agent-to-be, may be holding key to the mint.
Ohio State
Forget Clarett. Buckeyes (7-4) salvage season by beating rival Michigan 37-21 before a joyous 105,456. "It feels like we're undefeated!" said CB Dustin Fox. On Sunday the school's two NFL receivers Joey Galloway (Bucs) and Michael Jenkins (Falcons) went 2-0.
WHO'S Not
Raiders
Not even a bye week could cure Silver and Black blues; they lost for second time in three weeks to downstate rival Chargers. Oakland (3--7) is now 7--19 since '02 Super Bowl. The Al Davis (left) team did debut "Raiders auf Deutsch"--a German-language section of Raiders.com, which already has Spanish and Chinese links. Note to content providers: Look up schrecklich.
Hasselbecks
Seattle's Matt missed first start in two years with thigh injury. Washington's Tim can't get off the bench despite Redskins ongoing QB woes and big loss to Eagles. And Tim's wife, Elisabeth, was visibly shaken after being berated, on-air, by The View co-host Star Jones for rearranging seating cards at Jones's wedding.
Bears
Chicago's football team lost its leader (LB Brian Urlacher) and then its dignity (to the Colts, 41-10). Things are worse in Maine, where NCAA Black Bears hockey is mediocre 5-4 at home and citizens voted to allow baiting of bears so the animals could be shot.
David Carr
When is it not a good thing to be named one of PEOPLE's Sexiest Men Alive? When grizzled NFL types have already been hanging the pretty boy QB label on you and scouts are doubting your technique. Besides, when you throw for just 164 yards and your Texans lose their third straight, well, that's a turn-off.
Ohio
Browns lose at home to Jets (forget the playoffs, Cleveland), Bengals lose at home to Steelers (forget the playoffs, Cincy), and Ohio University's lone alumnus in NFL--Ravens punter David Zastudil--is sidelined with separated shoulder.
