The Questions with Michael Haynes

Bears Defensive End

What was your Welcome-to-the-NFL Moment?
The first time I went full-speed against [Bears 370-pound tackle] Aaron Gibson. In college if you see a guy his size, you say, "O.K., this is going to be easy." You can get around him, you can outquick him. But Aaron Gibson is so right there you have to change your mind-set. You have to play better technique, and you have to be a man every time you line up.

Most embarrassing moment?
When they called me to do a song during rookie hazing at training camp. My mind just went blank. I had no words, nothing. I was like, I don't know what to say. And everyone freakin' laughed at me and threw cups at me.

Most treasured possession?
My wedding ring. If I were single [he married Stacy last February], I don't know how I'd be able to deal with the stress every day.

Favorite off-day activity?
I'm starting to pick up golf. It's enjoyable, but 19 holes is a lot. I shoot ridiculously high. The first hole I played I had like a 15. But it's getting better.

If I weren't in the NFL, I'd be....
I would have done ROTC and I would be in the military [as both his parents were].

Last Week

Haynes had three tackles as the Bears upset the Vikings 24-14.

This Week

Bears play at Jaguars as both teams claw to stay in playoff picture.
