Season to Remember
HERE'S WHAT KIND of year it has been for Peyton Manning. On Sunday he completed 26 of 33 passes for 298 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions, yet his passer rating dropped. As he closes in on Dan Marino's NFL mark for touchdown passes in a season, here are some remarkable statistics about Manning's record-setting year.
•Manning has more scoring passes (46) than every other team in the league has total touchdowns, except Kansas City (50).
•Manning has more than doubled the touchdown total of six teams.
•Manning has thrown 30 touchdown passes before halftime. That's more than any other quarterback has for the season, except for the Vikings' Daunte Culpepper (31).
•Manning, with his two scoring tosses on Sunday, set an NFL record with his 13th consecutive multiple-touchdown game.
•Manning has never finished a season with a passer rating of 100 or higher, but with his 126.3 rating this year he is on pace to shatter the record held by former 49er Steve Young (112.8, in 1994).
