The Beat

Is she or isn't she? At Andy Roddick's annual charity event last week at the Polo Club in Boca Raton, Fla., Anna Kournikova reportedly told fans she is now Mrs. Enrique Iglesias, claiming to have wed longtime boyfriend (below) in a secret ceremony in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, earlier this month. "Enrique is great. Everything is awesome," she said. But on Monday there were reports that the couple was not hitched, and Kournikova's representatives had not confirmed the nuptials. Kournikova, 23, was married to NHL star Sergei Fedorov, who is dating ubiquitous party girl Tara Reid, proof that there is life after Anna.

■ Picking up on Lance Armstrong's Live Strong theme, country singer Tim McGraw is selling "Ya gotta believe" bracelets to benefit cancer patients. McGraw's father, former reliever Tug McGraw, died of a brain tumor earlier this year; the new bracelets look like baseball seams and are inscribed with 45 ygb for his uniform number and the inspirational phrase he popularized. Proceeds will go toward improving quality of life for cancer victims. "We wanted every day of [my father's] life at the end to be as enjoyable as it could," says McGraw. "There's no doubt that improving the quality of his life extended his life." The bracelets can be found at his website (www.timmcgraw.com).

■ Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani's son has gone from little devil to Blue Devil. Andrew Giuliani, 18, who made a scene at Hizzoner's 1994 inauguration that was spoofed on SNL by Chris Farley, will go to Duke in the fall and join the golf team, which is currently ranked 16th in the country. (The school offered a partial athletic scholarship, but Andrew requested that they hold the funds for someone who needs them more.) The 5'10", 190-pound Giuliani is a senior at St. Joseph Regional in Montvale, N.J., where he's a scratch golfer and was the kicker on the football team this season.

■ Hall of Famer John Elway was in Bagram, Afghanistan, last week for the ground breaking of the Pat Tillman USO Center, dedicated to the former Cardinals defensive back and Army Ranger. "In my mind [Tillman is] a hero," Elway told a gathering of 1,500 troops. "You're all heroes." The NFL donated $250,000 toward the center in memory of Tillman, who was killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan in April. Elway was joined by Best Damn Sports Show Period host Leeann Tweeden and comedian Robin Williams. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders were also busy spreading holiday cheer last week, paying their 25th annual visit to troops stationed in South Korea.

■ Pedro Martinez's postseason sidekick, diminutive Dominican actor Nelson de la Rosa, won't follow the Mets' new ace to Queens. Martinez and his 28-inch-tall pal had a tiff and haven't spoken since Boston's World Series parade. "I'm not going to the Mets unless some other Dominican ballplayer makes me an offer," de la Rosa told New York's Daily News. "If the Yankees call me, I'll go with them."

Everyone's busy during the holiday season, but no one has more balls in the air than world-champion basketball spinner Bruce Crevier. The four-time Guinness record holder--he's spun 21 basketballs at a time--and South Dakota native performs around the country with his wife, Diane, and their nine children. Last week they spun through Omaha, entertaining fans at men's and women's games at Creighton University.
