MARIETTA, GA. > Gymnastics

Laury, a junior at Michigan, set a school record in the all-around and had a career-best score on the vault, leading the Wolverines to a win over Oklahoma. He earned his second straight Big Ten gymnast of the week honors and is the No. 1-ranked all-around gymnast in the country.

Caitlin Malcolm

WINDSOR LOCKS, CONN. > Basketball

Malcolm, a sophomore forward at Brandeis, averaged 26.3 points and 9.7 rebounds over three games for the 15-2 Judges; in one winning effort she had a career-best 29 points and 13 rebounds. She earned her second consecutive Eastern College Athletic Conference player of the week award.

Mary Saxer

LANCASTER, N.Y. > Track and Field

Mary, a senior pole vaulter at Lancaster High, broke her national record for the third time this year when, at the Dartmouth Relays, she became the first U.S. high school girl to clear 14 feet indoors. The win earned her an invitation to the Millrose Games.

J.D. Byers

WESTMINSTER, MD. > Basketball

Byers, a senior guard at Lebanon Valley, hit the game-winning shot in a 75-73 overtime victory over New Jersey City in the final of the Rinso Marquette Invitational. He was named the tournament MVP, and he is a finalist for the Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award.

Pat Doherty

WAKEFIELD, MASS. > Hockey

Doherty, a senior forward at Southern New Hampshire, scored his third hat trick of the season while helping the 12-4-2 Penmen to a 6-4 victory over Salve Regina on Jan. 8. He leads the Northeast-10 Conference with 18 goals and is second in points with 28.

Amanda Blumenherst

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. > Golf

Amanda, a senior at Xavier College Preparatory, shot a five-under-par 67 for a two-day total of 137 at the Aguila Golf Course to win her second straight Arizona Class 5A golf title. Her victory helped the Gators achieve the state's lowest girls' team score ever and win their 23rd title.
