SUPER VIDEO MATCHUP

Eagles DE Jerome McDougle and Patriots CB Eugene Wilson couldn't wait for Super Bowl XXXIX, so they played EA Sports Madden 2005 on XBox Live.

CLAD IN a powder-blue Carmelo Anthony Nuggets jersey, McDougle arrived at Philadelphia's Airport Marriott saying he had brought his wife, Jaceinte, and their baby, Jerome III, for "moral support." On the first play from scrimmage he showed how dangerous a healthy Terrell Owens could be, hitting TO with an 80-yard TD pass. "That was a technical difficulty!" groaned Wilson, who had fumbled with the controls. (Wilson, wearing a blue sweatshirt, had support, in his Foxborough hotel room, from his wife, Jamie.) McDougle kept up the pressure, using Eagles DE Jevon (the Freak) Kearse to wreak havoc on defense--following one of Kearse's three sacks McDougle yelled, "Freakaleak!" After McNabb's 19-yard touchdown pass to Todd Pinkston gave Philly a 21-3 halftime lead, Wilson said to Jamie, "Man, I'm getting spanked." She replied, "So spank him back!"

Wilson, who had subbed in Deion Branch as his No. 1 receiver ahead of Troy Brown, heeded his wife's advice in the second half with a no-huddle passing attack. (He didn't run the ball all game.) After Tom Brady's five-yard TD pass to Bethel Johnson, Wilson high-fived Jamie and said to McDougle, "You like that right there?" A 47-yard scoring pass from Brady to Johnson with 2:56 left cut the lead to 21-17. But after a failed onside kick McDougle began to eat up the clock on the ground, chanting, "Na-Na-Na-Na, hey-hey-hey, goodbye." ("We've got a singer over there," deadpanned Wilson.) McDougle then sealed the win with a 10-yard TD pass to TO. Said a grumpy Wilson, "See you in Jacksonville." EAGLES 28, PATRIOTS 17
