High-powered workaholic Lindsey Meeks (Drew Barrymore) can't pronounce Yastrzemski and finds the notion of the Curse of the Bambino quaint. High school teacher Ben Wrightman (Jimmy Fallon) has been a die-hard Red Sox fan since age seven (he's 30). Based on Nick Hornby's memoir about his obsession with the English soccer team Arsenal, Fever Pitch is a sweet romantic comedy, and it's hard not to root for the couple at its center. But Fallon is unconvincing in the role of Tragic Sox Fan, and despite being directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly and filmed during the decidedly nontragic 2004 season, Fever Pitch fails to develop a zany life of its own a la the brothers' There's Something about Mary.... The documentary Dust to Glory follows the 2003 Baja 1000 off-road race. If you think the effusive opening interviews oversell an event few people in the U.S. have heard of, just wait: Director Dana Brown (Step into Liquid) positioned more than 50 cameras along the route to capture the egalitarian spirit of a race that attracts drivers of $2 million Trophy Trucks and of souped-up old VW Beetles. When an airborne camera pulls back to show motorcycle rider Andy Grider roaring along the edge of the Pacific at 110 mph, the competitors' love of the race becomes utterly contagious. --Nancy Ramsey
