The Literary Life
It's not quite Ernest Hemingway allowing Lillian Ross a warts-and-all look at his life for The New Yorker, but Canseco is filming the next season of VH1's The Surreal Life.(His costars, who include Apprentice loser Omarosa and Pepa, of Salt-N-Pepa, reportedly find him "very lovable and honest.") In one episode the housemates put on a show at a Hollywood club, where Canseco--dressed as George Washington but wearing eye shadow and lipstick--stripped down to tiger-striped briefs to the strains of Yankee Doodle Dandy. Such is the life of a steroid-book author, which is what Dr. James Shortt, who is at the center of the Carolina Panthers scandal, hopes to become. He signed with Canseco's literary agent and is pitching a book of his own.
