Jamie Southern

CLOVIS, CALIF. > Softball

Southern, a senior righthander at Fresno State, went 8--0 over three consecutive weekends and was named Western Athletic Conference pitcher of the week each time. She has a 24--3 record for the Bulldogs this season with 236 strikeouts and a 0.44 ERA in 176 innings.

Sean Rooney

WHEATON, ILL. > Volleyball

Rooney, a senior outside hitter at Pepperdine, was named most outstanding player in the NCAA tournament as the Waves won the national title. He had a 52-match double-digit kill streak and was also the American Volleyball Coaches Association's men's Division I--II player of the year.

Lauren Stone

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. > Lacrosse

Stone, a junior goalie at Stonehill College, has gone a school-record 17--0 for the Chieftains. She leads the NCAA's Division II with a 3.67 goals-against average, and her .609 save percentage is second. She has been Northeast-10 goalkeeper of the week eight times in nine weeks this season.

Dorian Scott

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. > Track and Field

Scott, a senior shot-putter at Florida State, broke a 28-year-old meet record with a throw of 64'4" to win the Atlantic Coast Conference outdoor championship, helping the Seminoles to the team title. Two weeks earlier he won the shot put competition at the Texas Relays.

Audra Cohen

PLANTATION, FLA. > Tennis

Cohen, a freshman at Northwestern, became the second athlete in Big Ten history to be named both freshman and athlete of the year. She broke the Wildcats' single-season singles record with 44 wins and helped the school to its seventh consecutive conference title.

NORTH AUGUSTA AND AIKEN, S.C. > Golf

Brown (far left) and Burkhart, juniors at South Carolina--Aiken, led the Pacers to the NCAA Division II Southeast Region title and were Peach Belt Conference co--players of the year.
