Matt Danowski
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. > Lacrosse
Danowski, a sophomore attack at Duke, had the most points of any player (six: two goals and four assists) in a 9--8 loss to Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Division I final. He led the NCAA with a school-record 92 points, was a first team All-America and the ACC player of the year.
Erica McLain
PLANO, TEXAS > Track and Field
McLain, a freshman at Stanford, jumped 45' 2 1/2" to set an American junior record and win the women's triple jump at the Pac-10 championships. She also won the long jump (with a leap of 21' 2 1/2") and is the first athlete to take both conference titles in the same year.
Adam Tucker
WEBB, ALA. > Baseball
Tucker, a junior first baseman at Birmingham-Southern, batted .429 and had five home runs and 13 RBIs in six games. Named the Louisville Slugger national player of the week, he leads Division I with 25 home runs, a Panthers single season record.
Emily Feher
SANTA ANA, CALIF. > Water Polo
Feher, a sophomore goalie at UCLA, had seven saves in a 3--2 win over Stanford for the Division I women's water polo title. Her 205 saves helped the Bruins put together the lowest goals-allowed average in the U.S. this season. She is the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation goalie of the year.
Cassidy Nee
AZTEC, N.MEX. > Softball
Cassidy, a senior righthander at Aztec High, pitched the Tigers to a 2--0 win over Farmington and the New Mexico Class 4A Championship. She went 24--2 for the season with 322 strikeouts and a 0.43 ERA in 177 2/3 innings, and had a team-high .490 batting average.
Eric Frasure
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. > Highland Games
Frasure, a sophomore hammer thrower at East Carolina, threw a 56-pound weight 49' 8" to set a world record for distance (weights are also tossed for height) in the amateur heavy-athletics division at the 12th Loch Norman Highland Games in Huntersville.
