LONG BEACH, N.Y. > Martial Arts
D'Auguste, 33, a cardiac care nurse, defeated Japan's Megumi Yabushita in the Smack Girl tournament in Tokyo to win the world mixed-martial-arts championship. She is undefeated in her nearly three-year career and the No.1--ranked female mixed-martial-arts fighter in the world.
Brooke McKelvogue
WEST DES MOINES, IOWA > Softball
McKelvogue, a freshman at Minnesota State at Mankato, threw three consecutive shutouts at the state tournament to lead West Des Moines Valley High School to the Iowa Class 4-A championship. She finished her senior season with a 25-4 record, allowing one run in her last 56 innings.
Deron Winn
LIBERTY, MO. > Wrestling
Deron, a junior at Liberty High, won the 189-pound freestyle and Greco-Roman titles in the cadet division at the Vaughn Cadet Greco-Roman Nationals in Fargo, N.Dak. He was named outstanding wrestler of the tournament after scoring 67 points and allowing three.
Alysa Brown
FAIRFIELD, MONT. > Tennis
Brown, a freshman at Rocky Mountain College, had a 15-0 record in the state high school tournament, winning her third straight Montana Class B-C singles tennis championship. She was also an all-state volleyball and basketball player during her senior season at Fairfield High.
Ned Crotty
MORRISTOWN, N.J. > Lacrosse
Crotty, a freshman at Duke, was named New Jersey's hockey player of the year and boys' lacrosse player of the year by the Star-Ledger. He captained the Delbarton school hockey team to the state finals and the lacrosse team to its fourth straight state championship.
Austin Murphy
FOLSOM, CALIF. > Billiards
Austin, a seventh-grader at Folsom Middle School, won the boys' 14-and-under division at the BCA Junior & Collegiate 9-Ball Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich. The 11-year-old is on the USA junior team and will compete at the world championships in Klagenfurt, Austria, later this month.
