Week Ahead
SATURDAY 11/19
Floyd Mayweather vs. Sharmba Mitchell
If you're going to call yourself Pretty Boy, you better know how to fight. Mayweather (34--0, 23 KOs) clearly does: He's won belts in three weight divisions. Now he's shooting for a fourth. He moves up a class to take on welterweight Mitchell (56--4, 38 KOs). HBO 9:45 p.m.
SI PICK OF THE WEEK
SUNDAY 11/20
Tony Terrific
As NASCAR prepares to drop the checkered flag on its season, Tony Stewart (above) is in the driver's seat. The 2002 champ has a 52-point lead over Jimmie Johnson heading into the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where he has won twice. Carl Edwards, who won two of the last three races to pull within 87 points, knows that doesn't bode well for his hopes of catching Stewart in the 2005 finale. "We probably won't beat Tony Stewart," says Edwards. "Probability would say it probably won't happen." Tough to argue with that logic. NBC 4 p.m.
SUNDAY 11/20
USBC Masters Women in the Masters?
Don't tell Hootie Johnson, lest he get his green jacket in a wad, but bowling's first major of the season is open to all. So watch out for Chicago native Diandra Asbaty (below, with Chris Barnes), who made it to the final 32 last year. ESPN 1 p.m.
Colts at Bengals
The champagne is on ice, but for how long? Somewhere members of the 1972 Dolphins, who gather for a toast each year when the last unbeaten loses, are keeping an eye on the chilled bubbly while waiting for Indianapolis to fall. Indy's stingy defense will be tested by Carson Palmer (left), who leads the NFL in touchdown passes (18). Gentleman, keep those champagne flutes handy. CBS 4 p.m.
MONDAY 11/21
Maui Invitational, No. 6 Arizona vs. Kansas
Wildcats coach Lute Olson must believe hoops talent runs in the family. In 2001--five years after the departure of Damon Stoudamire--Olsen recruited his cousin Salim to play for Arizona. His latest experiment: freshman phenom guard J.P. Prince, a cousin of Detroit's Tayshaun Prince. ESPN 9 p.m.
TUESDAY 11/22
In stores Cinderella Man: The Original James Braddock
Russell Crowe may have glamorized him, but this documentary shows the heavyweight champ's imperfections. Included in the 46-minute film is footage of four of Braddock's most memorable fights.
THURSDAY 11/24
Falcons at Lions
What would Thanksgiving be without a turkey courtesy of the Lions? Detroit, which has been a Thanksgiving Day TV staple since 1956, has dropped three of its last four holiday games, including a 41--9 drubbing last year at the hands of Peyton Manning and the Colts. Manning's arm might be easier to deal with than Michael Vick's legs: The Falcons quarterback is averaging 6.0 yards every time he tucks it in. Fox 12:30 p.m.
