Leading Off

Bolt from the Blue
Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson scored his 16th touchdown of the season on a one-yard power surge during a 48-10 blowout of the Bills in San Diego on Sunday. The victory came at a price, though: All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates (inset) sprained his right foot in the third quarter and did not return. His status at week's end was day-to-day.

Swiss Mishap
At the World Cup Two-Man Bobsled race in Lake Placid, N.Y., last Saturday, driver Martin Annen of Switzerland, the defending champion, had to be helped from his sled (inset) after it flipped near the finish line. Annen and brakeman Cedric Grand escaped serious injury and finished 21st.

Clips' Joint
A greeting party of (from left) Chris Kaman, Sam Cassell and Cuttino Mobley met Kobe Bryant at the hoop in the Clippers' 97-91 win over the Lakers last Friday. Cassell (inset) and his mates have long been second fiddles in L.A., but they were 8-2 at week's end--the best start in team history and four games ahead of their Staples Center co-tenants.
