Fantasy Watch

TWO FORMER Arizona Wildcats have defied expectations and become impact players as rookies.

Salim Stoudamire

Guard, Hawks Slipping into the second round of last summer's draft turned out to be good for him. As a late first-round pick, Stoudamire would have been fighting to get off a quality team's bench; instead he landed in Atlanta, where he's worked his way into the rotation. Entering last weekend, the 6'1" shooting guard was hitting 41.7% from beyond the arc and averaging 22.1 points per 48 minutes.

Channing Frye

Center, Knicks Ask the Pistons' Darko Milicic how much Larry Brown likes playing rookies. It was no surprise that Frye got a DNP-COACH'S DECISION in his and Brown's first game with New York, but then injuries to an already suspect front line sprang Frye, the No. 8 pick, from the bench. He averaged 18.0 points and seven rebounds in his first three starts.

Others to Watch

Another Arizona alum, second-year guard Andre Iguodala of the Sixers, is seventh in shooting percentage (55.1%) and was averaging 6.8 boards a game.... The Raptors' new starting point guard, Jose Calderon, has been ringing up assists but not scoring or stealing the ball enough to warrant a spot in your lineup.
