Big Play

WHO: TigerWoods

WHAT: 293-yardthree-wood to set up a two-putt birdie

WHERE: 603-yardpar-5 12th at Doral

WHEN: Final roundof the Ford Championship

WHY
Woods is the rare pro who can instantly fix his swing during competition. Afterhitting some hooks early in the final round, he began using an under-release, amove during which his lead (left) arm stays above the trailing arm throughimpact. Doing so keeps the club face open and produces a fade. Over the last 12holes Woods didn't hook any shots, even when ripping his three-wood at 12 tobecome the only player to hit the green in two.

JOHN'S TIP
The Ball Flight Bible: Draw, Straight, Fade

Create differentball flights by changing the relationship of your arms through impact.

1. Draw - Thetrailing arm rotates over the lead arm, and the toe of the club passes theheel.
2. Straight - The arms stay level and the toe and the heel even.
3. Fade - The trailing arm stays under the lead arm, and the heel leads thetoe.
