Jon, a juniorforward at Upper Sandusky High, scored his 2,000th career point as thedefending Division II state champion Rams beat Galion 79-50. Earlier thisseason he scored 77 points and set an Ohio record for most free throws made bysinking 27 of 28 in a 105-100 overtime win over Tiffin Columbian.

TRACY, CALIF.> Softball

Dyer, a juniorrighthander at Utah, won three games at the UTEP Invitational, pitching twoshutouts, including a perfect game in an 8-0 victory over UTEP. She heldopposing batters to an .056 average in the tournament and was Mountain WestConference pitcher of the week.

REISTERSTOWN, MD.> Swimming

Ewalt, a seniorat Randolph-Macon, became the first woman in the Old Dominion AthleticConference to be named athlete of the year in a particular sport four times.She was undefeated in individual conference races during her college career andwon all 12 individual and all 13 relay ODAC championships for which she waseligible.

Zach Chambers

KANSAS CITY, MO.> Wrestling

Chambers, ajunior at Wisconsin-Platteville, won the 141-pound title at the WisconsinIntercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and was named outstandingwrestler of the meet. He missed the 2004-05 season while serving as a member ofthe U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq.

KANSAS CITY, MO.> Basketball

Saunders, ajunior forward at West Texas A&M, led the Lone Star Conference in rebounds(10.2), set a single-season record with 134 blocked shots and was namedConference South player of the week. She had 11 double doubles and led the LadyBuffs to the LSC South Division championship.

GARFIELD, KANS.> Track and Field

Smith, a seniorat Kansas State, won his third straight 1,000-meter title at the Big 12championships and last Saturday won the mile at the NCAA indoor championshipsin 4:12.75. On Feb. 4 he broke a 20-year-old collegiate record in the 1,000meters with a time of 2:19.57.
