Isaiah, a juniorguard at Curtis High, scored 51 points and broke a 51-year-old Class 4A statetournament scoring record in an 80-76 loss to Franklin. He set a South PugetSound League record by averaging 31.7 points for the Vikings and was named TheNews Tribune Boys' Basketball Player of the Year.

NORTH CONWAY,N.H. > Skiing

Lathrop, a seniorat Colby College, won both of her runs to take first place in the giant slalomat the NCAA Skiing Championships in Steamboat Springs, Colo. She is the Mules'fourth individual national champion and the first athlete from her Division IIIschool to win an NCAA title competing against Division I schools.

MELBOURNE, FLA.> Track and Field

Carter, asophomore at LSU, was named the NCAA Division I Men's Indoor Track Athlete ofthe Year by USA Track and Field and the Cross Country Coaches Association. Hewon the 400 meters, anchored the Tiger's victorious 4√ó400-meter relay team andfinished second in the 200 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships inFayetteville, Ark.

HUNTSVILLE, ALA.> Fast-Pitch Softball

Anna, a seniorrighthander at Grissom High, broke the Alabama high school career strikeoutrecord, fanning 18 in a 2-0 win over Huntsville and bringing her total to1,742. (It is now 1,881.) This season she is 16-1 with an ERA of 0.00, and shehas two perfect games. She is a three-time All-Metro pitcher of the year.

HONOLULU >Wrestling

Brandon, a seniorat the Saint Louis School, defeated defending 130-pound Hawaii champion DanielMorita to win a fourth consecutive state wrestling title. He became the firstwrestler in the history of the Hawaii High School Athletic AssociationChampionship to win individual titles in four weight classes.

JohannaNilsson

KALMAR, SWEDEN> Track and Field

Nilsson, a seniormiddle distance runner at Northern Arizona, was named the NCAA Division IWomen's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. She won the mile and had apersonal-best time of 9:06.61 while winning the 3,000-meter run at the NCAADivision I Indoor Championships.
