During a pit stopon the 150th lap of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, Sam Hornish Jr. pulled awaybefore the fuel hose could be removed, knocking over a crewman who was thendoused with water (inset) to prevent him from being burned. Hornish overcame apenalty assessed by race officials for the mishap and won by the second-closestmargin in 500 history (page 58).
